Where has the time gone???

December has wizzed by too fast! I find Matt and I saying "didn't we want to do this or that before Christmas?" and finding that no matter what we do we will never be able to do it all. The time for avoiding all things Disney has commenced as just braving Downtown Disney yesterday resulted in insane crowds! Even my commute to work is a little slower what with all the tourists who stay in one hotel/motel or another by our house. The funny thing is, is that at Downtown Disney I encountered more Disney Cast Members than anything else! I guess because they, like I, think to themselves, "I wouldn't touch a park right now with a ten foot pole!". Ha ha. People always seem to be amazed to find out that Disney is busy during the week of Christmas. "Who would go there during Christmas??" they ask, completely astonished. "Well, right around 70,000 people....and that's just the Magic Kingdom" ha ha. It's pretty insane, I admit, as I would never have thought about going on vacation during such a decidedly family driven holiday, but I guess when you consider how many "Disney or Bust" signs I see on people's vehicles and tee-shirts, it probably IS a family event! Just a super insane, super expensive, super BUSY family event. No thanks. I prefer my Grandma's house. :o)

Helloooooooo Humans!

I don't know why I titled my blog that. But for some reason I just got a bout of "Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor" stuck in my head. So Christmas is coming up much more quickly than I am prepared for, but I am SO excited to be going home for Christmas that I am urging time on to go even faster. I am extremely excited to see my family and friends, and to get to be at the Ferguson Family Christmas Party. I love love love the Christmas Party more than any other Ferguson gathering. The house is decorated, the food is delicious and the company great. Everything about it says "Home". This year for Christmas Day the family dynamic will be different as my mom got married earlier this year. There are the kids of her new husband that I have never met to contend with. Not that I don't think we will get along. Just different. We were the three musketeers for so much of my life (even when my mom was in a relationship) that it is hard to think of that changing. Although, if I think about it, it already changed, since Erin is married with two adorable children and I am married, we have expanded our family a lot. I suppose we can expand it more.

Work has been hectic lately, all the more reason to egg a vacation to get here faster. I also found out that my co-worker, whom I work solely with at night, will have her last day with the company on December 23rd. I will come home from vacation to working nights alone. I don't look forward to this for many reasons, but I suppose, as Aretha Franklin says, "I Will Survive". Though I have a sneaking suspicion that this turn of events will push me over the already crumbling edge and leave me clinging to a pole at the SLC airport on January 2nd yelling "Don't make me go back!".

Sigh.

election day!

I find it so frustrating that people are forgetting the REASON this country is in a slump. His name isnt Barack Obama, his name is George W. Bush. I will admit that Barack Obama confirmed my fears from the get go. I don't think he had the experience to fix such insurmountable issues...but people were expecting him to build Rome in a day. It was never going to happen. He received a country on the verge of complete destruction, and had the courage to take it on. It IS getting better, just in very small steps. I am very afraid that this election will make room for right wing republicans to completely destroy the baby steps.

Mic stands-a musical instrument?

So Matt and I went to the Aerosmith concert at the Ford Amphitheatere on Saturday. It was pretty awesome! As anyone worth their musical salt knows...Aerosmith has been around for a long time. They've been around for a lot of different musical trends. They really haven't changed their sound that much, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I can tell a few bars into any Aerosmith song who they are. It helps of course that Aerosmith front man, Steven Tyler has such a unique and distinct voice. There has been talk of Aerosmoth replacing their lead singer, and I just have to say, do that, and you don't have Aerosmith anymore. I don't know if he is a diva. Probably. They have been around a while, and he is un-doubtably the most famous member of the group (though Joe Perry can stand his own). But there is just no way that you could duplicate that scratchy and soulful voice. So hopefully, they won't try it.

Anyone who knows me knows that it was somewhat of a "bucket list" item for me to see Aerosmith live. I have been waiting for a long time to get the chance. After many many MANY instances of BARELY missing their concerts in one town or another, I finally got the chance.

Everyone got the chance to shine, and everyone got a solo or two (or in Joe Perry's case about 15). I must say though that there was one thing that outshined quite a bit....and that was Steven Tyler's mic stand.

No one really uses mic stands anymore. Not unless they are singing a ballad. And sitting down. I have seen plenty of pictures of Steven Tyler with his scarf'd up mic stands, as it is certainly a trademark of his...but what i didn't count on, was that it would be such a huge part of the show. That mic stand was thrown up in the air like a baton, flung around above Tyler's head and over the lucky first rows. (I myself kept waiting for it to hit someone square in the face). He carried it up and down the (what I can only discribe as) catwalk. Sometimes dragging it, sometimes energetically pumping it in the air. It kind of made me wish that more people use mic stands nowdays, though I doubt it would be done with such flair by anyone else.

Stupid Airline Fees

So you may have noticed that Airlines have been charging for checked bags. MOST airlines now are charging for the 1st checked bag, and anything else that follows. They claim it's so they don't have to raise ticket prices. However, the airline industry made 13 BILLION dollars in profit last year from such fees. Realizing how lucrative it is, Spirit Airlines has now officially implemented a $30 fee for CARRY ONS. It just makes me sick. I mean, i'm sorry, but your reason for charging us fees is so you don't have to "raise prices"? Then why is my plane ticket $300-$400 a person? Explain that to me airlines! If other airlines follow suit and start charging carry on fees I think there will be a riot. When the smoke clears, probably the only airline that will be left un-marked will be Southwest. It is the only airline that has not followed the trend where luggage is concerned. Granted, it charges a fee for luggage, but only after the 1st TWO. Strange how every time I board a Southwest plane it's completely packed, but if I fly, say, ANYONE ELSE, there is almost always a seat (or seats) available. Take note airlines! Keep up the fees and you won't have an airline left!

This, that and the Other

So we have been up to a lot this past little while and I am sure that will be up to more soon enough! Matt and I went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and it was amazing! I drank two butterbeers and they were very delicious and I can't wait to get more :o)

The detail is pretty darn amazing, right down to the poor poor cast members who have to wear the robes (the Hogwarts robes) from the movies. I mean, talk about HOT! I spent more than I should have, but the stuff was just too awesome! I bought a chocolate frog (that after being in the heat was not so much "frog" as it was "chocolate lump") and it came in the same packaging as the movie and even came with a "Wizard Trading Card". Pretty awesome.

We were planning on going to Captain EO the next day but it was just too hot so we went bowling with a friend instead. I haven't been bowling in a while, but Matt kicked our butts pretty hard both games. I have never seen Matt bowl so well! In the last game, he got 3 spares and 2 strikes...so needless to say I lost. :o)

We have a lot to look forward to in the next little while and I can't wait! My birthday is in 4 days! :o) I must admit though, I am being thrown through a loop for this birthday. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I am going to be 25 years old. It just seems so much older than 24 and I can't really explain why. I guess I feel like I should have my life figured out at this point and i'm just not quite there. I think I will have a lot more figured out next year. Maybe.

We have Aerosmith coming up! I am so excited! It's going to be awesome! And then Last Tour to Endor (which is for the closing of the original Star Tours attraction, since they are re-theming it completely) and the Vinylmation convention. I feel more than a little geeky to be attending the last two events, but I can't help but be excited for them both.

Last, but not least, we have our cruise! I think it is going to be a lot of fun. Call it a "last hurrah" before kids, since I know that a stress free cruise where I lie in the sun and go to the spa is not going to be in the cards for me after I get preggers. Ha ha.

Lots to look forward too! Can't wait :o)

Onward and upward!

This week has been crazy! I am so glad that the weekend is only a day away! The funny thing is, as I was talking with a co-worker, we realized that we weren't so much busy as we are just heavy of mind. Our fearless leader will be leaving the company by the end of next week, and we have decided to propose that no one replace her. This is for many reasons, but mostly because we love our team and don't want someone to come in and ruin the climate we have been able to maintain. We are pretty self sufficient, but it has still been a lot of work preparing a proposal or the VP of Operations. As much as I am anticipating the answer to this proposal, no matter the outcome I think I will just be relieved when it is over. The whole situation has been filling my head for the past two weeks and I am excited to relax and tell myself that I have done all I can, and it is no longer in my hands. The VP is sure to have a lot of questions about it, and though I am nervous, I am pretty confident that our team will present it with the clarity that I am sure he wants. It's probably the gutsiest I have ever been with my job, but it is something I want for myself and for the team. It can't hurt to try and it helps that our current manager is behind us. It also helps that if the whole thing explodes in my face I will be able to apply for a job where my manager is going, since she said she would hire me in a minute. Ha ha.

Being so passionate about my job is a little bit scary, only because since I know that I am driven, I don't know where that leaves the rest of my life. Kids, Utah, and all of that seems so far away. I go back and forth with living in Utah, because while I miss my family and my friends more than I can say, I just don't know if I would have these opportunities if I had to start over by moving back.

Its been a lot of think about. Who knows?

Everything else has been good. Matt and I are chugging along as the heat starts to gain momentum. Needless to say the electric bill has gone up this month since our A/C is on pretty much every moment we're home. Even as i'm using the computer, the heat that is coming from it is almost too hot! It's crazy!

Matt and I are looking forward to many fun things that coming up within the next couple of months...we are going to Aerosmith in August, which I am really excited about since I have wanted to see them virtually all my life! We are also going to the "Last Tour to Endor" which I think seals us forever as both Disney and Star Wars geeks. Disney is closing "Star Tours" as we know it forever later this year, and they are changing it completely. To get ready for it, they are throwing the party where members can literally go on the "Last Tour", so we got ourselves tickets and it should be a blast! Then of course we have our cruise in September! I can't wait!

Lot's of fun things coming up! :o)

Oh apple....

Why did you come out with a bigger version of your iPod touch when it doesn't need to be any bigger?
